My latest style of custom portraits is on beautiful wooden circles that look so organic and modern in an Australian home. I really love this latest style. It’s a bit more interesting than the rectangular shape that we’re all so used to.

I started off doing these because a friend of mine had lost her pet dog, Tammy, who had been with her for 12 years. It’s a really hard thing for any pet owner to go through. They were so close and we all saw it coming because Tammy was a little old lady in dog years but it doesn’t make it any easier.

I really wanted to do something to cheer our friend up and she had talked about getting me to do a portrait of Tammy for a while but wasn’t sure which photo she wanted to use. I figured I’d just choose a nice one from her social media and surprise her. I knew it would be hard at first for her to see her furry friends’ face again but I told her not to feel pressured into putting it up on display but just thought it would be nice to have something to remember her by. It took a while but as time heals her broken heart, she’s put the portrait up on her wall.

We all loved Tammy so much it’s nice to know that she’s been immortalised forever so that people will be able to see her beautiful face well into the future.

These are a couple of other wooden circular animal portraits I’ve done since Tammy.
