Christmas is fast approaching and it can be really hard to think of something unique to give to our loved ones. There are only so many gadgets, sparkly earrings and other things that just get lost in the clutter that our friends and family can take. So how about giving the gift of art this year?

Every piece of art is unique and it’s not as hard as you think to organise and pick the right thing. Below, I’ve written up a Christmas List for you to suit all the characters in your life:

Gift Vouchers: These are for those very particular people you know who are better off choosing their own gift but you want to give something a bit more personal than cash or a Myer or Bunnings voucher.

Portraits: For those sentimental people who love to reminisce about those special people and moments in their lives.

Murals: For those people who love to make a statement in their home.

Prints: For the people in your life who like to bring a bit of colour into their lives.

Originals: For the art lovers who want something that no one has anything quite like.

Commissioned Art Works: For those with a wild imagination. The world is your oyster! I’m very adaptable and happy to create any piece of art you have in mind.

Christmas Portraits

It’s coming up to Christmas again which means you’ve got to think of a heart felt, sentimental present for about a million people…who has time for that?! That’s where I come in! What’s more heart felt and sentimental than a custom portrait of your loved ones or of their favourite animal! Yay! Problem solved! It’s going to get crazy though and I only have two hands and only one of them can actually draw well so if you’d like to organise a portrait for someone you’d better get in quick so that I have time to draw it up before the big day.

If portraits aren’t you’re thing I’m able to do pretty much any art commission you throw at me. It could be an acrylic on canvas painting, a watercolour, a drawing of anything you like or even a mural! I also have original paintings for sale or limited edition prints of my work. So let your imagination run wild and let’s create something really cool that they can treasure forever.

Wild Things

Just recently I painted my parent in-laws truck ready for a trip to the outback. I couldn’t have asked for better working conditions being constantly offered cakes, snacks and tea. One of the perks of working for family.

Rod and Glenda spend a lot of time up north in beautiful places like Karajini camp hosting so were keen to have some Western Australian desert animals painted on the sides of their truck. Their favourites are the spectacular looking Desert Perentie and Olive Python.

I learned a lot about the two animals while painting them and looking up different images of them on the internet. They both have beautiful patterns and colours on them especially the Perentie. I can’t wait to visit the desert again and try to spot some (from a distance…they’re a little scary).

Graphite Drawing Workshop

Hey everyone! Super exciting news! I’m going to be running a graphite drawing workshop. So to all those people who ask me how I do it, now you can find out!

It’s going to be held at The Art Space Collective which is an amazing little hub of creativity and is run by the loveliest ladies who have given me this awesome opportunity to use their beautiful space. The address is 80A Scarborough Beach Rd, Scarborough.

The workshop is on Saturday the 24th of September from 2-4pm so you could go and have a lazy Saturday lunch with your friends first and then spend a relaxing couple of hours creating your very own masterpiece or just picking up some new drawing techniques with a glass of wine, some tunes and some good creative company.

New original drawings and limited edition prints

I’m really proud to show everyone my latest available original drawings and limited edition prints. These drawings are all from my latest series, “Floating Heads”. They’re quirky, graphite pencil drawings of some of my favourite weird looking animals. Click the links below to view these hilarious little guys as original art works or as prints in the shop.

I’ve had so much fun drawing these crazy little heads. I haven’t drawn so much in a long time as I’ve been concentrating a lot more on my painting skills, which has been great because I love working with colours but drawing is my first love and I’d forgotten how much I really enjoy it. It comes really naturally to me so it’s quite a relaxing, almost meditative process for me. Hours can go by in what feels like minutes. These are only the A4 “Floating Heads” that I’ve finished. I have a lot more A3 ones which I’m still in the process of making available for prints so get ready to see a lot more hilarious faces looking back at you.

Picco’s Kitchen Art Display

I’ve just started displaying some of my work at Picco’s Kitchen which is a little coffee shop in Maylands with beautiful coffees, breakfast and homemade treats. They’re a lovely bunch of people who really try to support local artists. There are a few other artists work in there at the moment to take a look at along with mine. Art Displayed By The River

This week I put a few of my paintings up for display in the beautiful Deep Water Point Cafe. It’s such a relaxing, friendly place to hang out. There’s a playground right next to the cafe if you have kids and a beautiful view of the river, plus they make a delicious Berrynana smoothie. So if you feel like you need a bit of a break, I highly recommend it.

Stirling Art Award

just letting you know that I’ve been lucky enough to be accepted into the Stirling Art Award Exhibition. My piece will be showing there along with some other great artists work from this Saturday the 10th October until Thursday the 15th October.
