This painting is a different take on my original Tree Sunrise painting. I decided to accentuate the height of the trees towering above you and give them more of an Australian gumtree feel. This painting really gives me a sense of camping. It reminds me of that special time early in the morning when you can just see the sun coming up or going down through the walls of trees surrounding you in your campsite. I love that time of day. There are so many beautiful colours and heaps of birds either just waking up and making themselves heard or flitting around catching the little bugs for dinner in the last few minutes of sunlight.

I painted this canopy with the sunshine pouring through for an exhibition down at a winery near Margaret River called Swings and Roundabouts. I wanted to capture the essence of the area which to  me is all about nature because my husband and I spend a lot of time camping down there and walking through the bush. I love the way the sunshine makes the leaves in the canopies glow and shine like gold. Sometimes I just lie in a hammock and watch the  birds flying through the trees and the breeze blowing the branches side to side.

The original “Tree Sunrise” is now hanging up at the beautiful Bottleyard apartments in Perth along with another of my “Cloud” paintings. The apartments are right next to a huge tree filled park and also have a lot of plants with in the walls of the apartment block, including the building’s community veggie gardens. This was a painting I did while on holiday with another artist friend who’s beautiful little daughter was singing a song she’d learned that had all of these lovely messages about how to be a peaceful and loving person so I got her to write down all of the qualities that make a nice person so that the lady I was painting could bathe in them.
